CHRO Roundtables

HRMAC CHRO Roundtables are forums exclusively for senior HR executives (and Senior HR executives in transition) to gather and discuss hot topics and critical issues. These informative, educational sessions provide participants with a local peer network to share leading-edge information and benchmark against best practices in a neutral setting. Held 5 times annually, the Roundtables are designed as an opportunity for CHRO-level executives from HRMAC member companies to enjoy highly interactive forums on a strategic topic of interest.

Each program begins with topical material presented by a content expert(s) from sponsor organizations and includes opportunities for open discussion and dialogue among attendees.

Evolution of Performance Management
Many firms have moved away from the traditional, backward-looking annual review, and implemented a more timely, quarterly check-in process that facilitates an on-going conversation between supervisors and their direct reports. Has this new approach been successful? What are some of the "lessons learned" from firms who have adopted the quarterly check-in process, and, in particular, how have they managed their compensation decisions absent an employee's "annual rating"?

Design Thinking
Design Thinking is the new word in business conversations. But what is design thinking, and how is it changing how companies work? Is Design Thinking the tool that will help HR leaders create the ultimate Employee Experience, aligned with strategy, culture and Customer Experience? In this session, learn the principles and practices of Design Thinking and how it can be a transformational tool for HR and your company.

Developing Leaders in your Succession Pipeline 
Succession Planning may not be easy, but it can be done. The next challenge we face is to take succession plans from our HR systems and spreadsheets and put them into action. How do we help ensure a leader will be ready, and have the trust of senior management, in 1, 2 or more years? Learn best practices and case studies on how to develop leaders for their future roles through leadership development, experiences and other programs.

Culture and Transformation
Culture is on the corporate agenda.  When overlooked or oppositional to the strategy, the results can be harmful for the business. While managing in the age of mergers, acquisitions, a new workforce and the use of artificial intelligence, HR Leaders need to help lead and identify cultural aspects that need to be retained and those that need to evolve or be adopted.  In order for the business culture to transform and expand, becoming greater than it has ever been, how does HR help lead and shape new behaviors for the organization?

With the 2018 CEO pay disclosure nearing, Boards of Directors are taking a closer look at their executive pay practices.  In both the for profit and not-for-profit businesses, top compensation priorities are at the forefront of conversation.  We are looking at how successful companies pay differently to stay competitive and what the variations on pay for long-term and short-term incentives are for executives.  

Wellness & Mindfulness
Creating a culture of wellness means fostering a workplace that encourages and promotes the well-being of your employees.  It means supporting employees striving for the balance in their personal and professional lives, focusing on the physical as well as building mental health assets and growing human resilience.  Scientific evidence suggests that mindfulness can help address workplace challenges and foster greater wellness and productivity on the job.  How do organizations systematically lead, measure, build, embed and evaluate well-being initiatives and resilience in the workplace?  How can mindfulness be brought into the organization?  What are the key practices to foster mindfulness and well-being at work?
